cafe gitane

March 5, 2014

third stop on the avocado toast tour! i almost missed this one.  i may have had a little too much fun the night before, but blair quickly reminded me that avocado toast is always the cure. obvi.

anyway - so glad i went.  we went to cafe gitane inside the jane hotel. it is a cute, little, french-moroccan spot - as soon as we walked in the door, you could smell the lattes and fresh chocolate croissants. it just puts you in a good mood! blair insisted that they have the best avocado toast in nyc…read on...

address: 113 jane street
neighborhood: west village
avocado toast: avocado, lemon juice, olive oil, chili flakes on seven grain toast
omg. soo good. by far the best avocado toast i've had in nyc (or anywhere) so far. the lemon juice and olive oil brings it to a whole new level. basically blair was right and i wanted to lick my plate. 10/10.
fries: it wouldn't be a weekend brunch if we didn't order fries.
salad: heart of palm, avocado, oranges, endives with lemon, olive oil and chili flakes
eggs: baked organic eggs with smoked salmon, capers, potatocs and cream
are you drooling yet?
coffee: its served with a little, personalized chocolate. um hello. i'm in love.
branding: sweet and charming. the plates say cafe gitane on them in the sweetest blue, the little chocolates are personalized with the address on the back, and they also have mini note pads (that tricked us - we thought they were matchbooks)
atmosphere: warm, friendly, bright, relaxed, charming, parisian-cafe-like
new favorite spot.
